Stop The Violence -President Museveni Re-echoes Call For Peaceful Elections In Sudan, Urges Warring Factions To Come Together For Dialogue

President Museveni has reiterated his call for ceasefire to the fighting forces in Sudan, urging them to hold peaceful elections, and grant power to the people of Sudan to elect their own leaders.

President Museveni made the call again on Wednesday afternoon while meeting H.E. Malik Agar, the Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of the Sudan who led a delegation to meet and deliver a special message from H.E. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of the Sudan.

Speaking to the delegation at State House Entebbe, President Museveni also emphasized the need for all stakeholders in the war to come together and engage in dialogue on the problem as the one of the ways to bring back peace in the country.

”This afternoon at Entebbe, I received a special message from H.E. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, delivered by H.E. Malik Agar. As earlier advised, the fighting forces in Sudan should stop the violence, hold peaceful elections, and empower the people to elect their leaders. I also stressed the importance of dialogue amongst all the stakeholders which allows for the problem to be identified in order to bring lasting peace” Museveni said shortly after the meeting.

The two leaders agreed on a proposed framework within which to resolve the crisis in the Republic of Sudan.

H.E. Malik informed President Museveni that H.E. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan is willing to participate in the peace process for the Republic of Sudan as long asthe conditions are favorable for the people of Sudan.
