Social Media Blogger Juma Masuumi Remanded To Luzira Prison Over Defamation, Cyber Harassment
Police in collaboration with Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested and arraigned before grade one magistrates court Luzira a one Juma Masuumi for allegedly publishing and sharing defamatory statements against Kintu Moses, the assistant communications officer at the office of the National Chairman(ONC).
Masuumi was arrested after Mr Kintu filed case against a pseudo a X(former twitter) account registered under the name Sword and different numbers which were sharing several false statements damaging his image and other individuals at the Office of the National Chairman.
Following investigations into the case that Mr Kintu filed at Jinja Road police station, it was discovered that Masuumi was the one behind the account publishing the malicious and baseless statements against the person of Mr Kintu and ONC manager Hajjat Namyalo Hadijah Uzeiye.
Our sources have since established that Masuumi was smoked out of his hide out in Kampala over the weekend, and has since been remanded Luzira Prison on charges of defamation and cyber harassment until 7, March 2024 when he will appear for hearing.
Masuumi has been the fake account since January 2024 and in one of his posts via this very account(Sword), he described one of the ONC coordinators Mr Buyela Christopher as a ‘dog’ further alleging that Mr Kintu is gay something that has damaged his (Mr Kintu) personal image beyond repair given the fact that his a renowned family man.
Mr Kintu has thus confirmed the arrest of Masuumi expressing gratitude to the security operatives who followed up his case with urgency further noting that he will let the law take it’s course.
