Kampala: Police have revealed that former Kazo Member of parliament Gordon Bafaki died after ramming his car into the back of a trailer in Kiwatule along the northern bypass.

“The driver of Motor Vehicle (Toyota land Cruiser TX) registration number UBD 965E identified as Hon. Bafaki Gordon, aged 48 years old and resident of Namugongo – Kira Division in Wakiso district died on spot and his body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary,” Traffic Police spokesperson ASP Faridah Nampiima said in a statement.

“It is alleged that the driver of the Motor Vehicle registration number UBD 965E knocked the rear body of the moving trailer. The driver of the Trailer identified as Kahagi John Kinuthia is in police custody to help in the investigations,” she added.

The incident occurred around 12:00 am along the Northern Bypass in Kiwatule, a Kampala suburb.

Bafaki, who lost his MP seat to Dan Kimosho in the 2021 elections, was returning from Kiruhura district where he was a member of the organizing committee for Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s ‘homecoming celebrations’.

Born on November 9, 1976, Gordon Tumwiine Bafaki was a politician, businessman and professional classroom teacher.

He replaced former works Minister John Nasasira as Kazo MP in the 2016 elections.
