NCHE Cancels Licences For Seven Universities

The National Council for Higher Education(NCHE) has cancelled the licences for seven institutions of higher learning including Kayiwa International University (KINTU) owned by Pastor Simeon Kayiwa of  Namirembe Christian Fellowship along Balintuma road in Kampala.

Other Universities whose operating licenses have been revoked include Fairland University, Busoga University, University of Stafford, Nsaka University, Lijif International American College of Health Sciences and  Kampala International College.

“Please take note that these former Institutions had their licenses revoked and ceased operating,” NCHE said.

The government last year completed the takeover of Busoga University which has been non-operational since 2017.

According to the latest list, Uganda currently has 10 public universities, 11 privately chartered universities and a total of 252 higher education training institutions as of December 2022.
