Reducing Climate Change Vulnerability! Gro Foundation, IRCU Set To Launch Massive Tree Planting Project On December, 18
Bulgaria based Gro Foundation in partnership with Inter Religious Council of Uganda(IRCU) are set to officially launch the multibillion massive tree planting project that will see 250 million trees planted in Uganda by 2030, in a bid to reduce climate vulnerability through reforestation and afforestation, using IRCU structures country wide.
According to sources, the partnership MoU runs for a period of 25 years with a window for renewal.
The launch slated for December 18,2023 at the palace (home) of the Archbishop of the church of the province of Uganda, His Grace Dr Steven Kazimba Mugalu at Namirembe Cathedral will attract over 200 VIP guests, including a high end delegation from Bulgaria under the Gro Foundation, the lead sponsor of the project.

The development has been confirmed by James Mukwaaya, Head of monitoring, Evaluation and Research at IRCU during a stakeholders’ strategic meeting that took place at IRCU Head office in Mengo, Rubaga division. According to Mukwaaya, the project will be launched under the theme: Reducing Climate Vulnerability Through Tree Planting In Uganda.
Mukwaaya further told this reporter that under this project, Gro foundation has also partnered with the Pan-African Pyramid to support Kyaka 11 refugees, vulnerable primary schools, health centers, IRCU paradise demonstration farm and vocational center with solar water pumps, water tanks, street solar lights for major roads with in the camp, toileting machines, vocational machines, sanitary pads, among others.
Apart from the massive Tree Planting project, Some of the beneficiaries from Gro Foundation huge donation include, Magezi Junior School in Bwaise, Naluwerere primary school for the deaf in Bugiri, Muterere heath center 11 in Bugiri, IRCU vocational institute in Buikwe, Bupadengo primary school in Kamuli District among others.
