Kampala: President Museveni is set to address the nation on Sunday evening on the current economic situation.
This has been confirmed by Linda Nabusayi, the Senior Presidential Press Secretary saying the president will address the country at 8 pm.
“President Museveni will this Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 8. pm address the nation to update Ugandans on the current economic situation. The address will be broadcast live from Nakasero State Lodge,” Nabusayi announced.
Museveni among other issues is expected to address the current rise in commodity prices, especially fuel which has mainly been attributed to the Russia-Ukraine war.
Members of the public have been calling upon the government to intervene in the rising commodity but all in vain with no hope of prices coming down any time soon.
On Tuesday this week, the Minister of Finance Matia Kasaija warned Ugandans that they should prepare for the worst that is yet to come noting that government will not do anything about the skyrocketing commodity prices.
“Removing taxes is not a solution. The solution lies in production for people to get more income. We have put so much in the system, use the money to generate more income for yourself,” Kasaija said.
