President Museveni Receives Prestigious Recognition From Cuba For His Contribution In Fostering Decades Of Smooth Bilateral Relations

 Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has been honored with a special certificate of recognition by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP).

The prestigious honour acknowledges President Museveni’s unwavering friendship with the Island nation and his historic contributions to strengthening the bilateral relations between Cuba and Uganda.

Cuba’s Ambassador to Uganda, H.E Tania Perez Xiques, presented the certificate to Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Henry Okello Oryem, who graciously accepted it on behalf of President Museveni.

The special recognition award given to President Museveni from Cuba

The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) highlighted President Museveni’s role in fostering a strong bond between the two nations and commended his efforts in promoting cooperation in various fields.

The certificate serves as a symbol of the deep-rooted friendship and mutual respect between the leaders and people of Cuba and Uganda.

Furthermore, Minister Oryem was also honored with a Seal of Friendship from ICAP, underscoring the collaborative spirit between the two countries. The seal is a testament to Uganda’s commitment to nurturing diplomatic ties with Cuba. General Muhoozi Kainerugaba was also recognized.

In a gesture reinforcing the robust relations, Uganda recently assumed the chairmanship of the G77+China from Cuba in January. This leadership transition further solidifies the cooperative efforts between the two nations on the international stage.

Additionally, six distinguished Ugandans, including Alex Masereka of UG Diplomats, were also conferred with Cuba’s Seal of Friendship, while three individuals were presented with Friendship Medals in recognition of their significant contributions to strengthening the bonds between the peoples of Uganda and Cuba.

Internal Affairs Minister Kahinda Otafiire, and Pan African Movement’s Daniel Rugarama received Friendship Medals with the third going to former Speaker Jacob Oulanyah (Posthumous).

The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmation of the warm and enduring friendship that has characterized the diplomatic relations between Uganda and Cuba, marking a momentous occasion in the history of their mutual cooperation.
