The Minister for Information Communication Technology (ICT) and National Guidance, Dr Chris Baryomunsi was on Saturday night airlifted to Kampala for medical attention after reportedly fainting in Kanungu District in western Uganda.

According to eyewitnesses, the minister, also a Member of Parliament for Kinkizi West in Kanungu District, was visiting his constituents only to develop health complications suddenly and is said to have fainted at around 6 pm while on his way from Ruhija in Muramba parish, Rutenga Sub County where he donated iron sheets to Church of Uganda’s Kyakikyere church, according to Godfrey Karabenda, the Kanungu District National Resistance Movement (NRM) party chairman.  

According to sources, he was rushed to Kambuga Hospital for management but his condition proved too complicated after an hour of admission and was consequently airlifted to Mulago hospital in critical condition for further management.

The Minister has thus confirmed the news saying he blacked out on Saturday evening while in his constituency and was rushed to Kambuga Hospital where he was later Airlifted from to Mulago Hospital further noting that he is now stable and out of danger.

Friends, yesterday I had a blackout while in my constituency. I was moving from one church function to another. I was rushed to Kambuga Hosp and then airlifted to Mulago Hospital. Am now stable and out of danger. The medical team is carrying out further tests. No need to worry” Dr Baromunsi said in a Tweet On Sunday afternoon.
