''Embrace Hands On Skills Studies To Secure A Better Future'' - ONC Boss 'Preaches' To Excel Vocational Training Centre Students

The head of the Office of the National Chairman Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo on 7th August 2023 donated accommodation materials; 100 blankets, 50 mattresses and 30 bags of cement to Excel Vocational Training Centre in Bombo-Kalule, Luwero district.

Excel Vocational Training Centre faced the adversity of a fire outbreak on 30th May 2023 with the dormitories of the students destroyed along with millions of personal properties of the students who were attending lectures.

The Director of this school, Mr Mwanje Shafik who is also the Chairman of Endorsements for the Jajja Tova Ku Main project under the Office of the National Chairman, informed Hajjat Hadijah that the school has a population of 2120 students. “Majority of the bazzukulu/students come from underprivileged families and we offer bursary offers to them,” noted Mr Mwanje.

He said that several entities are coming out to extend support to the school after the adversity and they are motivated to keep focused on equipping the Bazzukulu Ba Museveni with skills to enable them to create jobs and self-employment.

On her part, Hajjat Hadijah called upon students to embrace hands on skills to reduce on the levels od youth unemployment.

“A person with a talent or skill is 50% far better than someone who has acquired a university knowledge without skills”.

“President Museveni emphasizes skilling of youths because it is an assured approach to solve unemployment through self-employment based on the skills possessed by an individual, ”she added.

She expressed empathy to Director Mwanje and the school administration about the adversity of the fire outbreak that destroyed millions of properties and asked God to eliminate such evil-hearted people fighting development.

“I have carried along accommodation items; 100 blankets, 50 mattresses and 30 bags of cement as a response to the tragedy and we look forward to acquiring more support to enable the Bazzukulu Ba Museveni to have a safe learning environment,” said Hajjat Hadijah.

She cited the network of Presidential Skilling Hubs which is spread all over different regions to intensify the equipment of skills to the youth in addition to the Seed Secondary Schools per sub-county and technical schools established in most of the sub-regions.

Hajjat Hadijah thanked Mr Mwanje and his management for offering bursary support to the Bazzukulu Ba Museveni who are needy and asked them to carry on. She took the opportunity to invite all the Bazzukulu Ba Museveni at Excel Vocational Training Centre to Kololo Independence Grounds on the 8th of September this year 2023 —to celebrate the lifetime achievements of the National Chairman HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni under the theme; “Developing The Culture Of Entrepreneurship In Youth, Women and The Country At Large”.

The joyful Director Mwanje commended Hajjat Hadijah for the good contribution and assured her that they are to keep focused as the Management to achieve bigger goals than minding about the evil-hearted individuals.

Excel Vocational Training Centre has a life of 17 years in service with 11 graduation ceremonies with the most recent graduation of 1327 graduates last year. The same school has created jobs for several youths. Mr Mwanje asked parents to cease considering vocational studies a path for failures in education and embrace it as a solution to unemployment and low innovation morale in the country.
