Just In! Parliament Censures Minister Namuganza Over Misconduct

Troubled State Lands minister Persis Namuganza has assured her enemies that she going nowhere and she is not afraid of them noting that no matter what they do, they will fail.

Namuganza made these comments while presiding at a function in Busoga at which she was delegated to deliver over UGX 50 million from President Yoweri Museveni for the construction of Namutumba church.

While handing over the money to the Archbishop Church of Uganda Steven KaziImba at Ivukula Anglican church Namuganza accused some members of parliament of conniving with some government officials who are determined to put her down by all means.

“They are now somewhere trying to seek ways to see me fall down but this will not scare me,” she said.

“I know they will reach a time when they realize that am not to be blacklisted but whitelisted, “she said amidst applause from supporters.

Namuganza’s trouble stems from recommendations by the Committee on Rules, Privileges and Discipline that found Namuganza to have specifically insulted the leadership of Parliament for instituting an Adhoc committee to investigate her over the Naguru-Nakawa land allocations.

It was alleged that Namuganza also took to social media and television questioning the operations, powers and integrity of the presiding officers of Parliament to form Adhoc committees.

Parliament’s ad hoc committee in their report recommended that Namuganza steps aside for falsifying a presidential directive that saw the Uganda Land Commission allocate chunks of land to a section of investors.

However, Namuganza is reported to have said Parliament is powerless and unable to censure her concerning her involvement in the Naguru-Nakawa land allocations.

Following this, over 200 Members of Parliament signed to have her censured.

Commenting on the donation by the president, Namuganza urged the committee set up to monitor the progress on the construction of the cathedral ensure transparency while handling funds and ensure the project is completed within the next three years.

“Let every shilling meant for this cathedral be put into proper use to ensure its completion within the agreed period of time, “she said.

The archbishop Church of Uganda Steven Kaziimba who was concluding his three-day tour of the central Busoga diocese cautioned Christians to desist from practising witchcraft but instead resort to prayers in case they have problems.

“These witch doctors are deceiving people who visit their shrines to speak whatever they want through a hen implying its more special than a human being,” he said
