Kampala: UPDF Land Forces commander, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has warned Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) that their days are numbered if they don’t surrender.
“To ADF combatants. You have seen what we (the joint UPDF/FARDC forces) are capable of,” said Gen Muhoozi in reference to the airstrikes and artillery attacks that left ADF bases shattered in DRC in November 30.
According to Muhoozi, the operation Shujaa will continue until the terrorism ends and also constructing security roads in North Kivu where the militants have camped for decades.
Muhoozi, however, said the militants who give up the fight will be spared.
“Many of your ‘leaders’ have already fled the bush and abandoned you to your fate…surrender now before it’s too late,” said Muhoozi, adding, “The joint forces will receive you and give you a second chance.”
According to the joint statement released at least, 34 rebels have so far been captured in joint military operations that kicked off November 30.
Meanwhile, the UPDF Engineering Brigade working with FARDC has started civil works on the impassable stretch of the main supply route from Mukakati UPDF Forward Operating Base (FOB) up to ease passage through R.Semlik Bridge in North Kivu, Eastern DRC.
