Kampala: The Cabinet has approved the Ministry of Health policy restricting unvaccinated people from accessing public places including schools, churches, markets, government offices among others as one of the means to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

The Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomonsi said that the cabinet meeting that sat at State House Entebbe under the chairmanship of President Yoweri Museveni approved the Ministry of health’s proposal to stop unvaccinated people from accessing public places as a way to protect the vaccinated population.

According to Baryomonsi, this move is not intended to force people to be vaccinated but it will be on the will of owners for public places to stop or allow unvaccinated people from accessing them.

Baryomunsi noted that the policy is only intended to protect those that will stop unvaccinated people from accessing their places from being penalized by the laws of this country.

Baryomuni however called upon the public to embrace the vaccination exercise to stop such embarrassments because the country has enough vaccines to cater to everyone.

According to the ministry of health records, over 8 million Ugandans have been vaccinated since the exercise kicked off in March this year.
