Kampala: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is also the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, has promoted Abdul Rugumayo, the deputy Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) boss.

The promotion was announced by UPDF spokesperson Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye on April 06.

”H.E the President and C-in-C of UPDF has promoted 76 UPDF Officers. Among them, D/CMI Col Abdul Rugumayo to Brig Gen. 62 promoted from Capt to Maj & 13 from Lt to Capt. MODVA & UPDF congratulate the officers for the well-deserved promotions” he announced on Twitter.

Abdul Rugumayo has been promoted from the rank of colonel to that of brigadier general.

Brig Gen Kulayigye also revealed that Museveni has promoted a total of 76 UPDF officers and 62 of them were promoted from the rank of captain to that of major while 13 were elevated from lieutenant to captain.
