Kampala: Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has revealed that the country has a lot of hope in the newly appointed Uganda Airlines boss Jennifer Bamuturaki whom she has requested to double her already invested efforts to take the national carrier to a world-class level.

Speaker Among’s request comes after President Museveni recently appointed Bamuturaki as substantive Uganda Airlines Chief Executive Officer elevating her from the acting capacity where her performance has been undoubtedly remarkable.

‘’The airlines were revived using taxpayers’ money. We expect you to come up with a strategic plan that will meet the vision of making Uganda Airlines a world-class airline that will compete favourably and profitably with other airlines,” Speaker requested Bamuturaki during a meeting held at Parliament on Tuesday morning.

Among further stressed the need for improved customer care which she said would attract new customers.

‘’A customer’s only point of distinction with any airline may be the level of customer service provided to them; improving it can lead to happier customers, better travel experiences, and improved service ratings,” she added.

Ms Bamuturaki on the other hand called upon Ugandans to support ‘our’ very own airlines in order to be able to compete favourably and realize good returns on investment.

‘’We need a lot of local support in order to compete favourably in the already liberalized sector,’’ she said.

Following her appointed as acting CEO in April 2021, Bamutaraki made tremendous achievements inlcuding additional international routes to the airline’s network including Dubai, London, Guangzhou and other regional routes.

Currently, the airline operates flights to ten regional destinations which include, Johannesburg, Juba, Nairobi and Kinshasa with Dubai so far the only international route.

However, soon the airline is to expand its international route by including London and Guangzhou
