Kampala: The National Unity Platform president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has revealed that his home is under military siege ahead of his highly anticipated visit to Kayunga district to support his party candidate in the LC 5 by-elections.

Bobi Wine is set to be in Kayunga today to canvass support for his party flag bearer Harriet Nakwede in the Kayunga LC 5 by-elections to be held on Thursday this week.

This follows orders from the Resident District Commissioner for Kayunga, Sempala Kigozi that Bobi Wine should be arrested if he sets foot in Kayunga where Museveni is also camped to mobilize support for his candidate.

Kigozi noted that Bobi Wine was expected to canvass support for his candidate days ago but not to do it on the same day president Museveni is doing it.

The NUP camp has however vowed to have their party president on their campaign trail today by all means.

Though they’re six candidates in the race, battle lines have been drawn between NRM’s Andrew Muwonge and NUP’s Harriet Nakwede. President Museveni is scheduled to be in Kayonza sub-county while Nakwede’s last campaign rally is set to be in Kayunga town council.

According to reports from Kayunga, heavy military deployment in Kayunga town and in the neighborhood to curb any kind of violence.

Commenting on the issue of blocking Bobi Wine from Kayunga, police spokesperson Fred Enanga in a statement noted they’re driven by history and they don’t want what happened in the bloody Arua by-elections to happen in Kayunga.
