Uganda Media Centre Employee Arrested By CMI Officials

Kampala: Obed Katureebe an employee of Uganda Media Centre (UMC), has been arrested.

According to reports, Katureebe was arrested from his residence in Kyanja, a Kampala suburb, by armed officials from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) on Sunday afternoon and since then, his whereabouts are not known.

His family revealed that military officials arrived at Katureebe’s home at around 3:00 pm and told him to board their vehicle before driving off to an unknown destination and his known phone numbers are off.

However, Uganda Media Centre executive director Ofwono Opondo revealed to us that Katureebe “is not under arrest but he is under security protection” because of alleged threats against his life.

”Obed Katureebe is under security protection because of threats alleged against his person, I am yet to get more details about his case but I can assure you that he is safe and not under arrest” Opondo told our reporter on phone.
