Two prisoners killed, Seven others injured In Lyantonde Accident

Lyantonde: Two prisoners have been confirmed dead after they were involved in an accident near Katovu in Lyantonde district.
The incident has been confirmed by the spokesperson for Prisons, Frank Baine saying the prisoners from Kabula prison were involved in a fatal accident as they were going for labor.
According to Baine, the deceased have been identified as Kagwa John and Isheme Willy Isheme and their bodies have been taken to Lyantonde Government Hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
Baine further noted that seven other prisoners were injured and are currently admitted at Lyantonde health center IV while three staff warders who were severely injured were transferred to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital.
Without disclosing the cause of the accident, Baine revealed that preliminary investigations indicate that the officer in charge at Kabula prison did not follow the administrative instructions by the commissioner-general of prisons regarding the transportation of prisoners.
