Traffic Police Scaleup Fika Salama Operations Ahead Of Festive Season

Kampala: Uganda traffic Police have intensified security road patrols across the country ahead of the festive season

ASP Nampiima Faridah, the Directorate, and Road safety said that the Inspector General of Police has directed all police commanders to increase police visibility and beef up security to keep festive activities safe.

The development is meant to prevent crimes and possible terror attacks ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations in the country.

Some of the measures put in place to curb accidents, overspeeding and other traffic offenses include;

Establishing barriers at identified black spots and speeding zones which will be manned day and night the checkpoints will be manned 24 hours /7 days a week.


Increase motorized patrols [vehicles and motor cycles]. Strengthening operations on speeding using the already deployed speed guns.

Carrying out operations on reckless driving and other offenses that are largely responsible for road carnage.
Sensitizing road users against drunk driving all drivers are reminded not to drink and drive.

Ensuring that only competent drivers are on the roads by checking for validity of their driver’s license all drivers are reminded to drive on roads with a copy of a valid driving license.


Inspecting vehicles to ascertain their roadworthiness and all drivers are reminded to avoid driving vehicles that are in a dangerous mechanical condition on the roads.


Strengthening the Fika Salama operations at our Fika Salama checkpoints which operate 24 hours/7days.
