Suspect Arrested By Flying Squad After Stealing $90,000 From Movit Boss

President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Maj Tom Magambo who has been in the Internal Security Organisations(ISO) as the new police Criminal Investigations Director.

“President Museveni has promoted Private Tom Magambo to the rank of Major and appointed him Director Criminal Investigations of the Uganda Police Force,” the acting UPDF spokesperson, Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu said in a statement.

Kampala: A suspect who stole at least $90,000 from Movit products director has been arrested by Ugandan police officers.

According to Chief political commissar Uganda Police, Asan Kasingye, the suspect stole at least $90,000 from one of the Directors of Movit company before he went missing.

The amount is about Ugshs 315,000,000 million when converted to Ugandan shilling as per the current exchange rate.

Kasingye noted that officers from the flying squad tracked and nabbed the man from his hideout, a city hotel in Mbarara City.

He noted that the suspect who hails from Ibanda stole the cash from the tycoon and tried to escape arrest by checking himself into the hotel.

After his arrest on Thursday evening, police recovered a total of $27,700 and Ush97,840,000

“This evening, a team of @PoliceUg Flying Squad arrested a suspect from Ibanda, that stole cash of $90,000 from one of the Directors of Movit co. 27,700$ and 97,840,000/= Ug shillings was recovered from a hotel room he had hired in Mbarara City,” Kasingye tweeted.
