Scaring Trend! Ministry Of Health Confirms More 1,272 New Covid-19 Cases Ahead Of Full Reopening Of The Economy

President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Maj Tom Magambo who has been in the Internal Security Organisations(ISO) as the new police Criminal Investigations Director.

“President Museveni has promoted Private Tom Magambo to the rank of Major and appointed him Director Criminal Investigations of the Uganda Police Force,” the acting UPDF spokesperson, Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu said in a statement.

Kampala: Uganda’s ministry of health has today confirmed 1,272 new covid-19 cases from the tests done on 27 of December 2021.

The breakdown of the new cases is: 1,252 Alerts And Contacts: Kampala (741), Wakiso (226), Mbale (40), Jinja (30), Gulu (37), Mbarara (31), Rakai (15), Soroti (13), Kabale (9), Adjumani (9), Busia (22), Iganga (7), Masindi (7), Bududa (6), Tororo (10), Kalungu (5), Luweero (5)

Others are, Hoima (3), Ibanda (3), Namisindwa (3), Mukono (3), Ntungamo (2), Budaka (2), Kyotera (10), Amuru (8), Kabarole (3), Jinja (2),    20 Truck drivers; Kyotera (14), Kampala (3), Tororo (2), Ntungamo (1)

Uganda is currently registering a surge in Covid-19 cases ahead of the planned full reopening of the economy and educational institutions.

According to the ministry of health, Uganda has so far vaccinated over 3 million, and over 9 million people have received their first jabs.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Kataha Museveni has reassured Ugandans that schools will resume studies for all learners on January 10, 2022.

Kataha gave her assurance on Tuesday afternoon while commissioning Keihangara Secondary School in Keihangaara Sub County in Ibanda District. The first lady has allayed fears that the ever-rising cases of Covid19 Omicron variant would distort plans for the reopening of schools next year.

According to the Education Minister, schools will have to adhere to all the standard operating procedures in addition to vaccination of teachers, learners and support staff adding that 70 percent of teachers have already been vaccinated with 28 percent taking both jabs.


“Schools will reopen in January 2021, as you are all aware, the permanent secretary moe released a detailed school calendar and guidelines for reopening schools,” she said
