President Museveni Face-Off With Paul Kagame In Kenya

President Yoweri Museveni and his Rwandan President Paul Kagame met on Friday in Nairobi Kenya during the signing of the Treaty of Accession to admit the Democratic Republic of Congo into the East African Community.

Museveni, confirmed the meeting saying he met Kagame before they both witnessed the signing of the treaty.

“I met with H.E Paul Kagame, the President of the Republic of Rwanda shortly before we both witnessed the signing of the Treaty of Accession by the Democratic Republic of Congo to EAC at State House, Nairobi,” Museveni tweeted.

The Friday meeting was the first since February 2020 at the Katuna border as part of the talks that were aimed at solving the border impasse between the two countries.

The talks had been brokered by Angola’s president, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço.

While commenting on the concluded treat to admit DRC, Museveni called upon members states to make productive use of the integration

”I once again welcome the Democratic Republic of Congo to the East African Community. I, therefore, call upon leaders and citizens of the EAC to make productive use of the social-cultural advantages and similarities we have as a region to cement our integration” he noted

”The East African Community is only sensible if it brings about the prosperity of our people through Market Integration and Strategic Security. Above all, we have what Europe doesn’t have- a common language”. he added
