The deceased was a son of Moses Opio, resident of Parliament village- Kitukutwe, Kiwologoma, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.

According to Police, on Monday 10/01/2022 while his siblings had been taken to school, the victim locked his father inside the house and committed suicide in the compound.

The father alleges that the deceased had informed them that he was no longer interested in going back to his former school, Makerere College.

The father even got him a position at St Kizito SS Namugongo, but he wasn’t happy about the choice.
The father suspects it could be the cause of the suicide.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the morgue for a post mortem.

This come a few days after residents of Bweramule Sub County in Ntoroko District were left in shock after an 18-year-old pupil committed suicide following a disagreement with her father over her recently acquired mobile smartphone.

Vin Karungi, a former primary seven-candidate at Rwamabale primary school, and her father, Mr. Nestoli Kasagaki had a bitter argument over a smartphone she had recently acquired and was using at home.

Karungi is said to have returned home with the phone and when asked how she acquired it, she reportedly declined to disclose it.

The following day, her father confiscated the phone and hid it in the house before he left to take care of his cattle.

But moments after her father’s departure, Karungi reportedly rummaged in the house for the phone and started using it.

When her father returned from the farm and found her using it, he reportedly got angry and beat her up.

Hours later, Karungi is said to have taken poison in an attempt to end her life before she was pronounced dead at Virika hospital in Fort Portal city where she had been rushed for treatment.
