Kenya's Former Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha Is Dead

Former Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha died on Tuesday, January 24.

According to the family, he suffered a cardiac arrest while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.

His death was confirmed by his wife Dr Barbra Magoha who revealed that he had been rushed to the hospital on Tuesday morning after falling ill.

Magoha’s last public appearance was when he handed over the functions of the Ministry of Education to his successor, Ezekiel Machogu.

“The former Cabinet Secretary Professor Magoha has passed on,” an official told Capital FM.

The official who was quoting a family member said Magoha had been unwell after experiencing high blood pressure and other health complications.

“He has been unwell, but today he got worse,” he said.

Magoha’s death comes at a time his family was preparing to bury his brother who passed on recently.

Magoha served as Cabinet Secretary for Education in former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.

Prior to this appointment, Magoha was reading the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) which he joined from the University of Nairobi where he was the Vice-Chancellor.
