Kayunga: With just three days left to the much anticipated Kayunga LC chairperson race by-election, the Kayunga Resident District Commissioner Ssempala Kigozi has ordered security forces to arrest the National Unity Platform party president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine if he steps foot in Kayunga.

Kigozi noted that the NUP camp has for the past weeks unleashed lawlessness even when there are laws in place prohibiting mass gatherings under the existing covid guidelines and the Public order management act 2013.

“These people (NUP) disrupt the business community in Kayunga. Whenever they snake through town, they rob people and even vandalize property putting the business community at stake,” RDC Ssempala said. ”I don’t want Bobi Wine to even dare bring his shadow to Kayunga. I have given orders to the police to arrest this man on sight,” he adds.
Referring to the ambulance shooting scenario, the RDC says NUP has made it a norm to violate the traffic regulations.

“Now you all saw the other day when the NUP ambulance belonging to Rubaga South MP Aloysius Mukasa carried excess passengers. They don’t know that such things put the lives of our people at stake,” RDC Kigozi said

“I will not allow Hon. Kyagulanyi to come to Kayunga basing on those grounds,” he added

However, members of the NUP party in Kayunga have protested move Ssempala Kigozi to block their president from joining the last campaign rally of their candidate for LC 5 chairperson by-election, Harriet Nakwede.

The open campaigns are scheduled to close on Tuesday with Security deployment heightened to curb any kind of violence.

Nakwede has however noted that such instructions contradict the harmonized campaign program agreed upon with the Electoral Commission-EC harmonized and all candidates.

According to Nakwede, the decision to allow President Yoweri Museveni to canvas support for her NRM rival and block Kyagulanyi from doing the same for her is a sign of unfairness.

She is meant to hold her final campaign rally in Kayunga town council, while the NRM candidate is supposed to campaign in Kayonza Sub County.

President Museveni is also expected in Kayunga to also mobilize support for the NRM candidate Andrew Muwonge and later meet district party leaders and security committee ahead of the by-elections set for Thursday, December 16.

Nakwede noted that the government can do whatever it can, but they have placed spies in their camp and wherever they sit, to make evil plans to fail them.

The Kayunga seat fell vacant earlier this year after the incumbent Ffefeka Sserubogo of NUP was mysteriously murdered and hanged on a tree next to his home.
