Government Finally Releases UGX 1.2 Billion For Speaker Jacob Oulanyah's Burial

Kampala: The government has finally released Shs1.2 billion to the Parliamentary Commission for the deceased Speaker Jacob Oulanyah’s burial who passed on last month in Seattle in the United States where he had been admitted battling a terminal illness.

This has been confirmed by the Director of Communication and Public Affairs at Parliament, Chris Obore saying the ministry of finance has released the cash for the National Organising Committee to ensure a decent burial.

“I can now confirm that the Finance Ministry has released Shs 1.2 billion to the Parliamentary Commission for burial arrangements of late Speaker Jacob Oulanyah. The commission will work with NOC to ensure decent sendoff,” Obore confirmed.

According to Obore, speaker Anita Among and clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesige have taken the lead to support the national organizing committee to ensure the smooth running of all the burial arrangements.

According to the program for Jacob Oulanyah’s burial program, Oulanyah’s body will be moved to the Parliament for MPs to pay their final respects today and there will be a state funeral for Oulanyah at Kololo ceremonial grounds tomorrow Wednesday.

The burial will be held on Friday, April 8 at his ancestral home at Lalogi village in Omoro and the day will be observed as a public holiday as declared by President Museveni
