Gen. Tumusiime Katsigazi Appointed New Deputy IGP To Replace Late Gen. Lokech

President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Maj Tom Magambo who has been in the Internal Security Organisations(ISO) as the new police Criminal Investigations Director.
“President Museveni has promoted Private Tom Magambo to the rank of Major and appointed him Director Criminal Investigations of the Uganda Police Force,” the acting UPDF spokesperson, Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu said in a statement.
Kampala: President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Maj. Gen. Goeffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi the new Deputy Inspector General of Police -IGP replacing the late Gen. Peter Lokech passed on in August last year.
Gen. Katsigazi who has been the Deputy Commander of Airforce will now leave his office to deputize IGP Martins Okoth Ochola in the Uganda Police Force.
In a related development, the President has also renewed the contract of Dr. Johnson Byabashaija as the Commissioner-Good General of the Uganda Prisons.
This has been confirmed by the Deputy Press Secretary to President, Faruk Kirunda in a tweet.
“H.E @KagutaMuseveni has appointed Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Tumusiime Kasigazi as Dep. IGP of @PoliceUg. The President has also renewed the contract of the Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr. Johnson Byabashaija. Best wishes to the appointees.” he wrote on Twitter.
Geoffrey Katsigazi Tumusiime is a Ugandan military officer and diplomat, who serves as the Deputy Inspector General of Police of Uganda, since January 2022.
He is a Major General in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and prior to his current assignment, he served as the Deputy Commander of the UPDF Air Force.
Previously,he served as the Defence Liaison Officer at the headquarters of the East African Community, in Arusha, Tanzania.
Major General Geoffrey Katsigazi Tumusiime also served in the past as Commander of the UPDF Motorized Infantry Brigade and as the Acting Chief of Staff of the UPDF Land Forces, among other appointments.
In January 2020, he took over as deputy commander of the UPDF Air Force, replacing Major General Gavas Mugyenyi, who was appointed Uganda’s military attache to India.
On 28 March 2020, he was promoted from the rank of Brigadier to that of Major General.
