Full List: 13 NRM Contenders Pick Nominations In Battle To Replace Jacob Oulanyah

Kampala: By end of business yesterday, thirteen members of the ruling National Resistance Movement(NRM) had picked nomination forms to contest in the speakership race to replace the deceased speaker Jacob Oulanyah who passed on last weekend in Seattle in the United States where he had been admitted for some time.

The Thirteen picked nomination forms on Tuesday from the party’s headquarters in Kyadondo ahead of a special legislative election slated for Friday, March 25.

The Thirteen include the current parliament Deputy Speaker, Anita Among seeking to fill her late boss’s position, Jackson Kafuuzi, Sarah Opendi, Theodore Sekikubo, Atima Jackson, Felix Okot Ogong, Jacob Oboth Oboth.

Others include’; Hanson Obua, Alex Brandon, Jane Ruth Aceng, Florence Asiimwe, John Okot Amos, Pius wakabi all seeking to take one position from the same party,

The late Speaker was elected to that position on May 24, 2021, after defeating the former Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.

He had also served as Deputy Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, from May 2011 until May 2021.

Oulanyah was also a member of parliament representing the Omoro County Constituency, Omoro District, Acholi sub-region, in Uganda’s Northern Region.
