Drug Trafficking! Ugandan Man Arrested At India's Delhi Airport After Swallowing 30 Heroin Capsules

 In a major drug bust, a Ugandan national, who swallowed at least 30 capsules was arrested from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport for alleged drug smuggling.

The accused has been identified as Robert Sengonzi after being arrested by customs officials on February 14, 2022.

The customs officials intercepted Sengonzi after suspicion and upon interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to swallowing 30 capsules containing heroin.

According to officials, the accused excreted 18 capsules at the airport while “the other 12 capsules
were removed at Ram Manohar Lohia hospital which resulted in the recovery of a total of 382 grams of white color substance appearing to be heroin worth Rs 7 crore,” the report confirmed..

The accused was arrested under section 43(b) of the NDPS Act. An official said the Ugandan national had violated provisions of section 8 of the NDPS act. The offense is punishable under section 21, section 23, and section 29 of the NDPS Act.

The accused was later produced before a court after his COVID test which was found negative. He was sent to judicial custody as officials told the court he was not required for further interrogation and later sent to Tihar Jail in Delhi.
