Business Partnership? City Tycoon Hamis Kiggundu Meets Uganda’s Future Investor Singer Akon At Dubai Expo Ugandan Pavilion

Kampala: City businessman Hamis Kiggundu held a meeting with Uganda’s future investor and American-based singer Aliaune Damala Badara Thiam aka Akon at the Uganda pavilion at the ongoing Dubai Expo which kicked off from 1st October 2021 and is still ongoing until 31st March 2022.

Singer Akon who is expected to establish a multibillion-dollar satellite city in Mukono district is currently in Dubai and had visited the Uganda pavilion at the Dubai expo when the two brilliant business giants met.

Although we are yet to establish the details of their meeting in Dubai, it is suspected that Singer Akon and businessman Kiggundu could ink a business partnership In the near future.

In April last year, the RnB star on his visit to Uganda was promised land by President Museveni to build what he termed as Akon ‘futuristic’ City to which later President Museveni directed lands Minister Judith Nabakooba to identify land that Akon would put to use.

Putting the presidential directive into action, Uganda Land Commission (ULC) officials on January 7 2022 showed Lands Minister Judith Nabakooba the land proposed Akon for the much-anticipated project that is expected to kick any time from now.

During the land inspection of the land located in Mpunge sub country, Bulebi village in Mukono District where Akon’s project is to be set, Nabakooba noted that any city, whether tourism or satellite, is a development to the country and it comes with a lot of benefits like employment, road construction and infrastructural enhancement.

“Akon is seriously interested in investing in the country. His representatives have been calling me almost every month to ask for updates and see progress. If they had the land they would have started already. Since the president committed to giving him land and directed us to get it, we needed to see that the directive is fulfilled,” she said.

It is worth noting that Hamis Kiggundu commonly known as Ham is a well-known businessman who not only trades in Uganda as Ham Enterprises Ltd, but also as Ham International UK Ltd in the UK, Ham International Ltd in the US, and Skylight Investments in South Africa.

The youthful businessman came to the limelight as the man behind dazzling commercial buildings around Kampala, he is the owner of a very popular real estate multi-billion company in the city known as Ham Enterprises which includes commercial buildings such as Ham Shopping Centre, Ham towers Makerere, Hana International school Nsangi, and he is currently renovating Nakivubo Memorial stadium and he has turned it into a state of the art with world-class facilities and it is yet to be unveiled soon after completion among other commercial buildings in Kampala.

Ham is currently building a city of its own dubbed Ham Palm Villas in Entebbe with world-class facilities including supermarkets, gyms, swimming pools, banks, hospitals, shops, saloons, stadiums, international schools among others.
