President Museveni has appointed Former CMI chief, Maj Gen Abel Kandiho as chief of joint of staff for the Uganda police force.

H.E the President and C -in- C of the UPDF has appointed Maj Gen Abel Kandiho as Chief of Joint Staff of Uganda Police Force replacing Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba who has been appointed the Ugandan Delegate to the South Sudan Peace Monitoring Mechanism” UPDF Confirmed in a Tweet.

Maj Gen is replacing Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba who has been appointed the Ugandan Delegate to the South Sudan Peace Monitoring Mechanism where Kandiho was appointed recently.

President Museveni days ago removed Maj. General Abel Kandiho from heading the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and replaced him with Maj Gen James Biriungi.

Military sources confirmed to our reporter that Rwandan President Paul Kagame demanded that President Museveni fires his top security chiefs, including Kandiho as part of the conditions for normalizing relations between the two countries.

He was replaced three days after President’s son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Land Forces Commander, returned from Rwanda where he held a closed-door meeting with President Paul Kagame.

Now, Kandiho joins a group of other UPDF officers deployed in the Police.
